First of all I'd like to say a massive hello and welcome to my blog "Adam Roberts Creative" where I'll be showing you the behind the scenes of my creative work around Illustration, Concept Art and Design. There will be all sorts of goodies along the way including inspiration, my best sites, freebies such as brushes and templates and many other resources that i'm sure you'll find useful.
To kick things of here is a quick process of a caricature I painted a while ago
As you can see here the sketch is extremely loose, I just put down marks really quickly to just get rid of the blank canvas that myself and many artists fear ;)
Much has changed in this stage and it is all about sculpting the form and adding tone to the painting as well as working out the icon features of Oliver Hardy
Ahh the rendering stage, what I find to be the best stage as everything is in place in regards to design and I'm just painting away and adding various strokes using Photoshop's default brushes (no special brushes were used in this painting)
The final stage is just getting everything to work together, the contrast has been developed more and details such as sweat and subtle brush strokes has been added and a final solid grey colour layer with low opacity added over the final painting to bring it all together
